Inventory computers on a network in a few minutes with Total Network inventory. Total Network Inventory is a PC Audit and Network Inventory software for office and large scale enterprise networks.
Pros: The application is able to query computers on a network and take stock for small and medium enterprise as well as larger organizations. Complete details of software installed such as operating system, service packs and hot-fixes if any are captured, as is hardware, running processes and major applications on the machines on the network. In a separate window you can look at such information as computer name, registered user, organization, workgroup/domain, IP address, set up date etc., Time of last scan ("Last updated"), User name and so on. In addition to the collected information, you can add extra inventory information about each machine and its user. You can specify such categories as Inventory Number (the number generator is provided), and add some additional notes. You can also add the information related to the user of the machine and specify user real name, department, position, phone, e-mail, etc. This adds clarity to the network inventory process. This information is added to a centralized database and network administrators are able to generate reports about each or all PC`s on a network. It includes a Report Builder, which lets you generate reports with just a few clicks. These can be single category reports such as a network adapter, its IP addresses, MAC addresses, DHCP, DNS and WINS settings for any number of computers on the network. Details can be filtered and reports can be exported in several formats. No agents are used in the application and thus no client software needs to be installed. The interface is simple with six image-coded buttons that can start the scan wizard, scan the local PC, show the main window, scan other PCs etc. Buttons connect to the publisher’s home page and help pages about the application. Actions are wizard-like and hence not much setting up or configuring are required.
Cons: No obvious problems here.
Overall: The inventory program collects information to an amazing detail and is able to present the same in a suitable format in reports or on the display. This is a 5 star one.
